IPQ ORGANISED A FORUM ANALYSING ISSUES CONCERNING TO QUALITY IN PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES

In order to find the best method to improve the quality aspect at the Universiti of Utara Malaysia (UUM), the Institute of Quality Management (IPQ) has organised for the first time a forum on “Analysing Issues Concerning to Quality at The University” with the University’s Top Management and former Directors of IPQ at the Seminar Hall of Islamic Center, UUM on 28 August 2017.

The forum's objectives are to provide experience sharing session concerning university and quality, to discuss current quality issues at the public universities, to discuss ways to improve the quality system of UUM and the role of IPQ, and to establish healthy interactions among staff with the management.

The panel comprised of UUM COB Assistant Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Yusnidah Ibrahim, two former IPQ Directors, Prof. Dr. Sany Sanuri Mohd Mokhtar and Prof Dr Zakaria Abas and moderated by IPQ’s National & Global Competitiveness Manager Prof Dr K. Kuperan A / l KVSN Viswanathan.

Associate Professor Dr Faudziah Zainal Abidin the Director of IPQ said the forum was to honour the former Directors who have put the university’s quality system where it is today.

"In addition to being honoured, the forum also provided an opportunity to former IPQ Directors to share views on quality in their respective perspectives," she said.

She added that creating a quality culture in an organisation is not a simple matter but it is possible, and that is why IPQ emphasises on continuous improvement and strives to create awareness on university quality aspirations to every member of UUM in order to meet the needs of the stakeholders.

Among the issues answered by panelists were the definition of quality at the university, how to measure quality and students’ comprehension on the quality of the university.
