On August 13, 2018, a total of 20 UUM staff from UUM Information Technology (UUMIT), School of Computing (SOC) and the Institute of Quality Management (IPQ) went to University of Malaya (UM) to participate in the 14th Public University (PU) level Innovative and Creative Circle (ICC) Competition which was held from 13 to16 August 2018.
A total of 37 teams representing 17 public universities participated in the competition. A total of 21 groups competed in the management category and 16 groups competed in the technical category. At the 14th PU level ICC convention, UM has adopted a new concept in organising the convention.This year, UM has combined the presentations and exhibitions involving research projects and innovations, creativity and new experiences in one convention named EUREKA # UM2018.
For this ICC convention competition, UUM was represented by PLEXUS from UUMIT and PARADIGMA from SOC. The title of PLEXUS’s group project is 'Problems Faced by Students in Reviewing Academic and Financial Information via Smartphone', while PARADIGMA’s group project is 'Problems with Items Frequently Found in the School Laboratory'.
The Deputy Director of IPQ, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norhani Aripin who accompanied the two groups to this competition congratulated both groups for receiving the gold and silver ratings for their respective ICC projects. She hoped that the group representing UUM at the 15th ICC competition at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UteM) in the coming year could give a fierce competition to other universities, and further promote UUM’s name.
The 14th UA ICC Convention Prize Presentation Ceremony was officiated by Datuk Ir. (Dr.) Abdul Rahim Hj. Hashim, the Vice-Chancellor of University Malaya.
