February 25 – A total of 14 teams will compete in a two-day mini convention (University level) on Innovative and Creative Circles (ICC) which is held at Seminar Hall A, Convention Complex, UUM.
The champion will take home a cash prize of RM5, 000; RM3, 000 for the second place and RM2, 000 for the third place. The winner for the Best Facilitator Award, Best Innovation Award and Best Presentation will take home a cash prize of RM300 each.
The ICC Mini Convention was officiated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International Affairs), Prof. Dr. Hassan Ali, representing the Vice-Chancellor. Also present at the event were the Director of Quality Management Institute (IPQ) UUM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah and senior university officers.
Each team will be evaluated by ICC judges from the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), Northern Region Office and The National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN) Northern Regional Campus.
In his speech, Prof. Hassan Ali said that creativity is integral to the process of innovation and that is the key to improve the quality of services. The innovation culture is part of the movement to transform the public sector and to promote national competitiveness.
He added that all staff must be open to change and innovation as well as to think of creative and innovative ways to explore new areas.
"Thus, I hope that all participants will benefit from this convention and acquire new knowledge related to innovation and creativity,” he said.
The Director of IPQ, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah said the ICC convention acts as a platform for UUM staff to showcase and put forth their excellent and innovative ideas to help UUM to realize the university agenda.
"In fact, we also want to ensure that each ICC project will still be around in the future and we hope that everyone gets a chance to present new ideas in ICC convention," he said.
12 teams will compete in the Management Category and 2 will compete in the Technical Category. Among the teams competing in this convention are the Chancellery Department, Development and Maintenance Department, Unifilm Studio, Office of the Student Affairs and Alumni UUM College of Business (UUMCOB) and Quality Management Institute (IPQ).
