Concerted efforts put in place by Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) for the world rankings agenda have yielded postive returns when UUM made a debut in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.
According to the latest global university rankings, UUM is listed in the 700+ group in the QS World University Rankings for 2015/2016. In addition, UUM continues to improve its standings in the Social Science and Management categories. UUM was not listed in the world rankings in 2014.
For the year 2015/2016, UUM rises 28 places to 336 compared to 364 in 2014. UUM advanced to the top 7th. university in the country compared to the 8th. position previously.
The QS World University Rankings employs a number of indicators including the academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty and international students.
QS World University Rankings is an annual listing of the top universities in the world. For this year, 3,539 institutions were considered for inclusion and only 891 institutions were included in the QS World University Rankings.
