On 26th January, the Institute of Quality Management has organised a workshop entitled UUM 5S Criteria Review and Standardisation Based on 5S MPC. The workshop was held at the Main Meeting Room with 44 participants from the UUM 5S Auditors.
The objective of this workshop is to review the criteria in UUM 5S and make use of the latest 5S university criteria assessment which is 5S MPC.
The workshop also acts as the platform to discuss the approaches to improve the 5S auditing competencies among UUM 5S and later support UUM to better 5S practice.
According to Assoc. Prof Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah, the Director of IPQ in his welcoming speech, the university aims all centres to obtain the 5S MPC certificate at the national level by 2018. For the start, 5 centres were invited to participate for 4 categories at the first Phase of 5S MPC certification. Dr Haim also thanked the head of the centres for allowing their staff to become UUM 5S auditor.
At the same event, Dr Noor Hasmini Abd Ghani, the Deputy of Quality Excellence System Division (BSKK) said, the 5S MPC evaluation criteria will be distributed in form of UUM 5S Manual. The UUM 5S Manual is expected to assist UUM 5S auditors in standardising the internal audit.
IPQ hopes the design of the new criteria will be able to facilitate and ease the auditors in awarding marks during the Quality Environment Practice Assessment (5S) which will be held on 1st – 5th May 2016.
