The Institute of Quality Management (IPQ) conducted the 2015 UUM Yearly Strategic Plan Presentation on 11 February 2016. The meeting was held at the Senate Meeting Room chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak.
A number of 170 Key Performance Index (KPI) encompassing the five core thrusts was presented in the meeting. 65% of the 170 KPIs’ was attained surpassing the intended target. These KPIs encompassed the significant university’s agenda at the national and international level, the agenda of RU (MyRA), SETARA, CAPs and Ranking to name few. The 5 thrusts of the 2015 Strategic Plan includes Developing Student Scholarship (Thrust 1), Holistic Development of Students (Thrust 2), Enhancing Academic and Internalisation Activity (Thrust 3), Sustaining Financial (Thrust 4) and Empower Human Capital and Talent (Thrust 5).
The Vice-Chancellor, Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak in his speech emphasized today’s 2015 UUM Phase 1 Strategic Plan Presentation is the complement to the five years journey of 2015 UUM Strategic Plan. In whole, UUM achievements are encouraging as there are positive progression in comparison to the previous five years. The Vice-Chancellor stressed that it was not an easy task to attain the determined KPI as most of the KPIs are highly challenging. Hence, each Centre of Authority (PTJ) are advised to come with appropriate operational plan or action plan to ensure the determined KPIs are achievable. Apart from that, each PTJ should take into account the communication aspect in making sure this Strategic Plan direction can be shared and understood not only at the PTJ management level, but by all the administrative and academic staff.
In the presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, the Director of Institute of Quality Management (IPQ) reported UUM’s performance on the basis of the strategic plan thrusts, agendas and schools. In particular, Thrust 2- Development of Holistic Students was the Best Thrust 2015, SETARA agenda was the Best Agenda 2015 and School of Computing was the Best School for 2015.
Dr. Haim on behalf of IPQ thanked all the PTJ’s who worked tirelessly in ensuring the success of the Phase 1 Strategic Plan agenda and conveys his hope for everyone to commit their best in the realisation of 2016-2020 UUM Phase II Strategic Plan. UUM Strategic Plan Phase II requires the support from all in striving to establish UUM as the Eminent Management University at the international level.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Malek Abdul Karim (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Student Affairs and Alumni), Thrust 4 Chairperson, Tuan Haji Amron Man (Bursar) and Thrust 5 Chairperson, En. Mohd Akhir Yusuf (Registrar) while Thrust 3 Chairperson was represented by Dr. Mohamad Farizal Rajemi (Director of CIAC).
