The Corporate Planning Division, Institute of Quality Management (IPQ), UUM has organised a workshop entitled Strategic Planning Information System Version 2.0 (SPIS 2.0) on 28 February 2016 at EDC Hotel, Sintok.

The workshop aims to improve and enhance the existing system competences in ensuring the university critical data is up-to-date from time to time and is real-time. Apart from that, the development of SPIS 2.0 is to meet the needs of UUM Phase 2 Strategic Plan: 2016-2020.

Assoc. Prof. Dr.Haim Hilman Abdullah, the Director IPQ in the workshop briefing session emphasized the importance of SPIS 2.0 development to improve data quality, information accuracy, and speed in the preparation of Strategic Plan report and other important decisions. Having a reporting system is a necessity to ensure UUM continuity effort to achieve the strategic objectives in making OYAGSB as World Top 100 Business School, UUM as World Top 200 University, Top 50 Asia, Top 10 Southeast Asia and Top 5 Malaysia.

Present at the workshop are more than 70 stakeholders including the system developers, system owners and users from UUM centres. Participants were divided into 11 groups based on the existing system- Group 1: Academic (ASIS); Group 2: Academic (GAIS); Group 3 and 4: Group (IFAS); Group 5 and 6: HEP (SAMS); Group 7 and 8: Human Resources (PERSIS); Group 9: Research (RECIS); Group 10: Publishing (Publishing System) and Group 11: Infrastructure (manual). Apart from that, other systems such as library system, MoU/MoA, OBE and others which will be integrated into the SPIS 2.0 development to uphold the university‚Äôs key agenda. 

The brainstorming of ideas from the system developers, system owners and users were transpired as the fundamental and guide to the SPIS 2.0 development. 16 KPIs and 219 PIs was discussed and refined in the effort.

To improve SPIS 2.0, series of meetings and experiments will be held before the utilisation of the system for data collection and report of the university strategic plan. SPIS 2.0 is a project under e-Management supervision.
