On 17 March 2016 (Thursday), a number of 13 staff from the School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB) visited the Institute of Quality Management (IPQ) for 5S benchmarking led by Puan Hasliza Hassan, the Assistant Registrar.

The delegation was welcomed by the Director of IPQ, Assoc. Prof.  Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah and IPQ 5S Committee members. In the welcoming speech, Dr. Haim emphasizes that UUM future is dependent to the departments’ ability and functions to operate at its level best. “We have to ensure to have people who are committed to the responsibilities, systematic work process and then we will be able to achieve the performance intended. In other word the focus is on the People, Process and Performance”, he said. The briefing of 5S implementation by IPQ 5S Head of Promotion Committee, Puan Siti Khairunnisa Mohd Nor.

“We do have the plan to implement 5S systematically in SEFB, and we really hope with this visit we are able to envision the application as we go back to our School” says Puan Hasliza Hassan during her speech.

The delegation was brought to visit to the two divisions at IPQ – the Division of Administrative and Competitiveness (BPDS) and Division of Quality Excellence System (BSKK).

Apart from strengthening the relationship between the two departments in the implementation of 5S, the visit also offers the opportunities of knowledge and information application for both departments.
