Associate Professor Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah and co-author, Dr. Narentheren Kaliappen from the School of Business Management, College of Business, have been conferred the Highly Commended Paper award by 2016 Emerald Literati Awards for Excellence.
The award-winning paper, entitled “Innovation Strategies and Performance: Are They Truly Linked?”, was originally published in the World Journal of Entrepreneurship, Management and Sustainable Development, Vol. 11, Issue 1.
It was chosen by the Journal’s editorial team as one of the most impressive pieces of work the team had seen throughout 2016.
The Emerald Literati Awards, which include the awards for excellence and citations of excellence, are now in their 23rd year and were established to celebrate and reward outstanding authors and reviewers of scholarly research.
The criteria used to judge the works for the conferment of the awards are based on six areas that inform the development of our products: internationality; diversity; support for scholarly research; encouragement of applied research (impact); commitment to high quality scholarship; and a desire to ensure that the reader, author and customer experience is the best that it can be.
The awarded paper reports on the test of the linkage between innovation strategies (process innovation and service innovation) and organizational performance in the context of the Malaysian hotel industry. The results show that hotels in Malaysia use process innovation and service innovation as their functional-level strategy.
“It's a great honour to receive this international award that recognizes our scholarly research work, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank the 2016 Emerald Literati Network for this prestigious award,” said Dr. Narentheren.
Meanwhile, Dr. Haim said that this esteemed award would enhance UUM’s reputation in terms of research and publication at the international level.
