October 26, 2016 (Wednesday), the Institute of Quality Management (IPQ) was re-audit by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) to maintain its re-certification of Quality Environment (QE / 5S). IPQ UUM was audited by the auditors from the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) northern region, Mr. Ahmad Fathan Abdul Rahim. The audit checks started from 9.00 am and ended at 4.00 pm.
The audit was focused on the 5S organizational practices and the impact of the practice to the staff and the organisation. The audit checks began with a review of all committee and zones documentation files in IPQ, followed with the auditors visit around IPQ which consists of the Administration and Competitiveness Zone, the System for Quality Excellence Zone and the Corporate Planning Zone.
At the closing session, IPQ was informed by Mr. Fathan that it has successfully implemented the QE / 5S. Every employee including the Management Unit have understood the responsibility in ensuring the success of QE / 5S practices in IPQ. A conducive, well organised and quality space environment can improve the quality and productivity of IPQ’s staff. Some of the proposed improvements are the use of softcopy files for the master, the committee and the zone files, and to appoint a person in charge for the first-aid kit. He also congratulated IPQ for being selected as a department in the northern region hence will become the benchmark for excellence QE / 5S.
The auditor was very impressed with the innovation undertaken by the Corporate Planning Division (BPK), 'Quick Find Item', a system to speed up the search process and updates the inventory assets via google doc and excel

It is hoped that with this success IPQ will continue to remain competitive in driving the quality agenda of UUM. The success of IPQ UUM is hoped to boost and be a model to UUM campus community to participate in procuring this certification.
