Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has received auditors visit from SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd that was headed by Datin Siti Rahmah Ahmad, together with Teh Seok Im and Mohd Azrul Hassan, which carried out the re-certification Audit ISO 9001:2008 in UUM from today until 30 November.
The auditing opening meeting was chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof Dr Noor Azizi Ismail and was accompanied by members of JPU and the Director of IPQ, Prof Madya Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah at the LPU Meeting Room this morning.
Prof Dr Noor Azizi said that, every year UUM will receive monitoring visits from QAS SIRIM before the re-certification audit which is carried out once every three years.
"UUM is committed to maintaining this certification and hope to meet the requirements of ISO 9001: 2008, as such UUM is currently in preparation for the transition system from ISO 9001: 2008 certification to ISO 9001: 2015, which is expected to be completed in 2017.
"In addition, UUM is also in the process of replacing the quality audit report system from manual to online (on-line) to ensure a more efficient UUM quality management system".
He also added that UUM will accept views and comments from the auditors involved so that the university can improve the existing quality management system.
Meanwhile, the Auditor General, Datin Siti Rahmah said the re-certification audit was made after the expiration of the certification and need to be audited again based on the certification audit that was done two to three years ago.
She further explained that the auditing will be conducted in accordance with the scope of the certification of design in the development of student programs, education services for students, research funding, consulting publications and library services and other supporting services.
UUM has received the first ISO 9001: 2008 certification in 2010, followed by a second certification in 2013.
