TWO UUM ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE AUN-QA RECERTIFICATION ASSESSMENT

The assessment for the Recertification of the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) for two of UUM academic programmes which lasted for five days starting on 16 December ended recently.

The Closing Meeting of the AUN-QA Recertification Assessment was chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Ayoib Che Ahmad in the Chancellery Meeting Room.

According to Prof Dr Ayoib Che Ahmad, UUM welcomed all the reprimands and suggestions made by the panel of evaluators and each feedback would help the university to further thrive.

“UUM also appreciates the commitment of AUN-QA evaluators throughout the five-day AUN-QA assessment. I fervently hope that the academic programmes that went through the assessment process complied with AUN-QA based on guidelines and criteria of AUN-QA.

"With this assessment, it will also help the University improve and enhance the quality of the two programmes involved namely the Bachelor of Science in Economics from the School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB) and the Bachelor of Development Management from the School of Government (SOG)," he said.

Prof Dr Ayoib said the evaluation process was strongly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the University was thankful for successfully overcoming the challenge. In fact, the Institute of Quality Management (IPQ) had also built an excellent synergy with the AUN-QA Secretariat in coordinating preparations to ensure that the evaluation process materialized.

"I would also like to thank the IPQ Secretariat, the Dean of SEFB and SOG as well as their team for their cooperation and assistance in ensuring the success of this audit exercise," he said.

The assessment which was conducted online through the Zoom application was led by the Chief and Lead Assessor, De La Salle University, The Philippines, Prof Dr Arnulfo P. Azcarraga. The session involved the presentation of preliminary assessment findings that focussed on the strengths and improvements needed to be made for each programme.

Also in attendance during the closing meeting were the Director of IPQ, Prof. Dr. Sany Sanuri Mohd. Mokhtar and fellow key office bearers of the University.
